Scrolling through blog posts drafts and I found this one from November 2022 titled ‘Our 2023 Roadmap’.
Honestly, it’s kinda shocking, but not in a bad way.
I wrote this outline based on what I wanted but also partially based on what I hoped would happen. As someone who does not journal/write much, I’m in awe about how accurate this became.
Specifically, I mentioned in the draft moving into a new role at my FTJ and needing to recalibrate my time a bit. That promotion was only a proposal at the time, not anything that had been reviewed or approved yet. I wrote it with the aspirations it would manifest but I was unsurprisingly skeptical.
As of today, I’ve been in my new promoted role for almost a year!
I share this now partially because I just spent the April 2024 Mercury Retrograde period doing a deep cycle of reflection and writing out what I want to release, cultivate, and manifest the rest of this year. While this was a helpful exercise, I’m now feeling more motivated than ever to really tackle what I’ve set out for myself. I’m also realizing that our growth and healing isn’t always evident in the moment and that having pieces to look back on can be remarkably affirming.
If these things hadn’t come to fruition, I don’t think I would look back on the 2022 outline as a failure but more so as a reminder to retackle the goals I had at that time; providing its even still what I want. I’m learning that the big stuff takes time and is wholly dependent on the most minute steps we take along the way however insignificant they may seem or how painful they are. All this to say, you’ve accomplished more than you realize and there is so much more amazing stuff waiting for you!
Below is the original drafted post that never made it out into the world that I now share with you:
Our 2023 Roadmap
Not only are we quickly approaching the new year, but Nor’Eastern Herb Company’s birthday is also on the horizon. On December 20 we will celebrate birthday #6!
Things being released:
- Promotions and sales
- Okay, so I know this one seems weird but hear me out; sales and promotions create a weird sense of urgency and expectation for buyer and seller. I experimented with this for November and December of 2022 where instead of a holiday sale, half the shop was marked half-price for 2 months. No urgency, no FOMO, no missed deals.
- Select items
- I love making and creating! It’s my favorite thing to do but what I’m not so in love with is feeling obligated to restock items that just are not resonating with me anymore. That’s okay! Instead of pushing myself to restock items, I am embracing more experimentation, limited batches, and new one-off items. This keeps the shop fresh, provides me a creative outlet, and allows my offerings to shift and bend with the seasons and energy.
What’s being manifested:
- More learning opportunities
- It’s no secret that I love teaching and sharing so that is where I am going to be putting my energy and focus for this coming year. I already have a new online course I’m putting the finishing touches on and I am hopeful to do even more in-person teaching and guiding.
So, you might be wondering why all the changes. The good news is that it’s all for good reasons! Really there are 2 factors at play;
- I have been wanting to recalibrate the model and focus of Nor’Eastern Herb Company for some time.
- I am stepping into a new leadership role at my full-time job. I’ve taken some time to really reflect and wrap my head around what it means to have a foot in 2 worlds and how I can be present best for myself, others, and the work at hand. For me, it all comes down to capacity. I am moving forward with the intention of doing all I can, enjoying it fully, and releasing what no longer serves me. Taking ownership of my own capacity os quite freeing and I am excited to see what sprouts in the places where I have created space.
